A simple concept, a great (re)execution!
The well-known Super Mario Bros. was definitely played by everyone in the past. The simple principle of the platformer consisted of reaching the flagpole at the end of each level, with many enemies and obstacles along the way. Jumping, flying, and throwing fireballs, you stomped on Goombas and Koopa Troopas, defeated Bowser, and saved Peach. In 2006, Nintendo came up with a reboot of the series and named it "New Super Mario Bros."

The principle has remained the same, but the level design has undergone a true revolution. There is so much more possible now. All the new elements and new enemies, combined with Mario's new moveset and new Power-ups, provide a fresh experience of the classic 2D platformer.

The game feels great and controls well. Mario runs and jumps easily through the initial levels, and soon enough, the difficulty level is ramped up. And if that wasn't enough, this game introduced Star Coins, with 3 hidden in each level. These can sometimes be tricky to find or collect, adding even more replay value to the game.

The game also paid attention to new Power-ups, such as the Mega Mushroom, which makes you huge and allows you to smash through the entire level. Of course, there's also the Mini Mushroom, which makes you tiny and able to fit through narrow openings.

In terms of content, the game is solid. There are plenty of (unique) levels, mini-games to play, and even a two-player multiplayer mode where you compete against each other for the most stars in 5 different levels.

This game lives up to its name. Thanks to all the new additions, it feels like a fresh Mario experience full of cool levels, challenges, and extra features like multiplayer. This Mario game is simply a must-have.

Peach has once again been kidnapped by Bowser (and Bowser Jr.), so it's up to Mario to rescue the princess. In New Super Mario Bros. Mario embarks on a new adventure with his brother Luigi in this platformer reminiscent of the previous Mario Bros games on the NES and SNES.

New Super Mario Bros is a fantastic game for young and old alike. Mario and Luigi journey through a total of eight different worlds to rescue Princess Peach. In each world, a new boss awaits the brothers. Furthermore, in every level, you can collect three golden coins hidden in challenging locations.

New Super Mario Bros lets you squash Goombas and Koopas in classic Mario and Luigi style. The numerous levels, bosses, and golden coins provide enough challenge and variety to keep you coming back to replay the game.

A wonderful 2D platformer!
This game is fantastic for anyone who has ever played 2D platformers on the NES or SNES! While most games nowadays are all 3D and open-world, New Super Mario Bros. returns to how Mario began!

The game is very well structured with a difficulty level that gradually increases, so even people who are not very familiar with gaming will not encounter any problems. In addition to the storyline, there are also always the mini-games you can play (alone or with friends!). Playing mini-games with friends is at least as fun as a round of Mario Party DS! I think this is one of the best platformers of recent years, definitely recommended!

Still incredibly fun after 10 years!
I really think this is an incredibly fun game. It was my first Mario game, and I still play it after 10 years (still haven't been able to collect all the stars). The Multiplayer function is also very enjoyable. Each player has a certain number of stars that you have to try to steal. The player who manages to collect all the stars wins. The final level seems very difficult at first, but if you play it often and know the right path, it can be completed within the time limit.

New Super Mario Bros.is a fun game. It's especially enjoyable because of the new levels and power-ups. In each level, you can also find 3 Star Coins. But what I like the most are the battles against the enemies. They all look almost dangerous.
I think the game is truly perfect, that's why my rating is a well-deserved 10!

A must-have for all DS owners!
In New Super Mario Bros., you must rescue the well-known Mario princess Peach from the evil Bowser. This is done by navigating through the different worlds to ultimately reach Bowser's castle. There are a total of eight worlds, two of which are optional.

The storyline, like most Mario games, is rather simple, but that's not what Mario games are about. It's all about the platforming, and in this game, like most Mario games, it excels. The controls feel great and there's really nothing to complain about. The graphics look good for the time of the DS, and the music in the game is well composed: each world has a fitting tune that sticks with you.

The multiplayer in this game is also fun. In multiplayer mode, you can play against each other with just 1 cartridge. The goal is to be the first to collect 10 stars. You can find these stars on the map or steal them from each other by jumping on your opponent. After completing the game, it's definitely worth trying the multiplayer mode with a friend as well.

All in all, I would say that you should have this game if you own a DS, whether you're a casual player or someone who has played many Mario games: Nintendo keeps releasing better and better Mario games, and this one certainly falls into that category.

Very fun game
Very fun for any DS owner. New Super Mario Bros.is fun for everyone, you have worlds 1 through 8. Each world has different levels, with a midpoint level and a castle at the end. Your goal is to rescue Peach, who is taken by someone different in each world. There are also various shops where you can buy lives and other things with the coins you find in the levels. You can also play mini-games, which are very entertaining, and you have the option to play against someone else. Additionally, there are 3 save points where you can have your own world saved and, for example, let your sister play a different one.

An old formula in a new coat!
When New Super Mario Bros. was released, it had been a while since Mario and Luigi had starred in a traditional 2D-style platformer. However, New Super Mario Bros. immediately shows that these kinds of games are still a lot of fun. The first thing you notice is that the graphics have been polished, giving the game a modern look, and the music is definitely worth listening to. Although the game has borrowed a lot from its predecessors, many new elements have been added, such as unique power-ups. It took me about 10 hours to complete the story, but there are also extra missions to play outside of the main story to unlock unique items.

There's a trick in the game on how to collect 1-UPs in the first level, and it's also a lot of fun to do.

To do this, go to level 1-1 of New Super Mario Bros. and walk to the item box containing a Mega Mushroom. Take the Mega Mushroom from the item box and wait a moment until it moves a bit further into the level, as the mushrooms in this game automatically slide to the right. Then grab it just before it falls into the hole and quickly make your way to the end of the level, breaking and collecting things along the way.
